She began participating in programs in countries such as Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Chile and Peru focused on renewable energy. She discovered WindAid in 2012 and restructured the organization in 2014 as a Co-Founder of the WindAid Institute where she could improve life for citizens in rural Peru. She is both a Social Director and Director of International Projects. When she is not teaching, building, or creating awareness about renewable energy and climate change; she is out with the volunteer groups learning or installing the turbines they build. Jessica is currently based in Trujillo, Peru but is also an active Board Member and Coordinator for Wind Empowerment, an association based in the UK for the development of locally built small wind turbines for sustainable rural electrification around the world.
