Ibu PuniIBEKA
Tri Mumpuni (or Ibu Puni as we call her) is the Executive Director of IBEKA, an Indonesian NGO which has been empowering rural communities using electrification as a tool for empowerment since 1992. IBEKA works with rural communities to design and implement community owned and operated renewable energy resources, particularly microhydro. Tri Mumpuni has also worked tirelessly within the Indonesian Ministry of Energy to reform energy policies to allow communities to benefit from small-scale generation and sell electricity back to the grid. After working as an advisor to the Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources on rural electrification and renewable energy development, she has moved on to working with the Ministry of Rural Development. She is an Ashden Award winner, Ashoka fellow, admired by President Obama, and has received countless awards in the realm of social entrepreneurship.
